Leading by Example and Bringing the World to You
The University of Helsinki Centre for Continuing Education HY+ and the Sharjah Private Education Authority organised an online training programme called “Learning from a Distance” for leaders of private schools in the Emirate of Sharjah of the United Arab Emirates. The programme, which aimed to help schools with distance teaching and learning, connected educators together, with 160 school leaders participating in the training online.
The participants found the training programme extremely useful, not only in terms of delivering online teaching in the face of COVID-19, but also in developing their pedagogical skills and school operations in general. “A huge learning curve and a great opportunity for teachers and schools to innovate”, one participant commented.
In the video, Mrs. Hunada Kanbar, the School Improvement Advisor of the Sharjah Private Education Authority, describes her experience of the training programme designed by HY+.
The arrangements of the programme were carried out with Education House Finland, which operates locally in Dubai. During the training, several Finnish EdTech solutions that help with distance learning were also demonstrated and used.
